Yared Dibaba
KAMA – Media/TV Personality 2008

Yared Dibaba was born in Ethiopia. In 1979, his family fled because of the civil war in his homeland to Germany. Yared is multi-talented and versatile, he is a moderator, actor and singer. Since October 2007, he has been hosting together with Bettina Tietjen the popular Friday evening talk show called "The Tietjen and Dibaba" in the NDR. For years now, Yared Dibaba has moderated many galas, shows and events like the Fan Fest Hamburg 2006 World Cup. With such African presence in his achievements, the KAMA committee is honoured to present Yared Dibaba with the Kultural Ambassador Media Award for  Media & TV Personality for the year 2008
 
 

Asamor Morfaw
Kultural Ambassador Media Award 2008 Culture/Music

Asamor Morfaw hails from the southwest province of Cameroon. He received his education up to high school in Cameroon, before moving to Bonn, Germany in 1994 to study agricultural science at the University of Bonn.  Asamor, an audio engineer and entrepreneur has been very active in promoting Africa and its culture through his internet Radio Station called African Music Radio, a broad band radio station, heard through out the world.For his efforts in promoting Africa culture and music, the KAMA committee is proud to present Mr Asamor Morfaw with the Kultural Ambassador Media Award for African culture and music 2008.

 
 
Mr Isaac Izoya
KAMA – Best Individual Promoting African Film in Europe

Mr Isaac Izoya is a multi talented entertainer and the brain behind the initiation of the new cultural exposition where Nollywood stars and comedians tour Europe to promote African culture and global integration as part of an image-cleansing program for Africa. He was the first African to act, produce and market Nollywood film in Germany. Mr. Izoya hails from Ishan in Edo state, Nigeria and studied at the London school of Journalism. He bagged recently the NOPA award in recognition of his activities and he intends to produce more movies that will promote global integration in the near future.The KAMA committee is proud to present Mr Isaac Izoya with the Kultural Ambassador Media Award 2008 as Best Individual Promoting African Film in Europe
 
 

Andreas Krueger
Kultural Ambassador Media Award 2008 For Entrepreneurship

Mr Andreas Krueger was born in Germany in 1959. He was actually conceived in Nigeria but was given birth to in Germany. Young Mr Krueger returned to Nigeria with his mother just after six months and lived there until he was 16 years. He then came back to Germany in 1975 to continue his education. He was quick to realize the need for a courier business that will cater for the high demand for documents and goods to be sent to Africa, especially to Nigeria and Ghana which is still the company’s  major business countries in Africa. Mr Krueger have during the past ten years, developed a worldwide network courier and express service for those who do not like to wait on line. For his business activities in Africa, the KAMA committee is proud to present Mr Andreas Krueger with the Kultural Ambassador Media Award 2008 for Entrepreneurship.

 
 

Chief  Kelly Orogun
Kultural Ambassador Media Award 2008 For Entrepreneurship

Chief Don Kelly Orogun, the Olorogun 1 of Orogun, hails from Orogun town in the oil rich state of Delta in Nigeria. He came to Germany at an early age and has lived all his life in and around Bremen, where he is today a household name. Well-grounded in his native Uroboh culture and tradition, the Olorogun is many things rolled into one. He is both a show-biz impresario and a business guru. His philanthropic activities extended to donating building to communities and churches. Chief Don Kelly´s love for African Films and Music saw him produced and financed a couple of Home Video films both in Germany and Nigeria. He has also financed a couple of talented  African musicians.  For his personal achievement and dedication to his fellow Africans, the KAMA committee is proud to present Chief Don Kelly Orogun with the Kultural Ambassador Media Award 2008 for entrepreneurship.

 
  Nneka Egbuna
KAMA - Best Afro-German Female Singer 2008

Nneka Egbuna was born in the oil city of Warri, Nigeria in 1981 from a Nigerian Father and a German Mother. She took to singing during her school days and in the church choir. After relocating to Germany, she began singing professional since 6 years ago. Her music reflects her early childhood  days in Nigeria as well as her years in the western world. Nneka and her band have already established a name for themselves in the music scene in Germany and surrounding countries. She performed at Sean Paul’s open air show in Stadtpark, Hamburg. Another highlight in her onstage-career was performing for prisoners and prison officers at her Majesty’s prison service Holloway Islington London UK in February 2005, where she gave a taste of her mission for 45 minutes without back up. The KAMA committee  recognizes the impact of  Nneka Egbuna´s music  to African culture and music by awarding her with the Kultural Ambassador Media Award for the Best Afro-German Female Singer 2008.
 
 
Chief Cassidy E. Osuji
Kultural Ambassador Media Award 2008 For Entrepreneurship

Stuttgart-based Telecom wiz kid, Chief Cassidy Osuji, has taken his knowledge of Hi-Technology, a field thought to be the exclusivity of Europeans to another level. Chief Osuji, who is well respected in Germany and beyond for his expertise and competence in the field of Hi-Tec, has decided to deviate his know-how to Hi-Tec solution development and provision. Chief Osuji’s company, CassTel Technologies, in line with TeleCass GmbH, is an established designer of innovative, leading edge, as well as network independent technology solutions and services, which offers competitive International communications at realistic and affordable prices. Born in Nigeria to the famous Osuji family, Chief Osuji  came to Germany to continue his studies after two semesters at the law faculty of the University of Lagos, where he later established TeleCass GmbH and  Casstel Technologies respectively. Today, Mr. Osuji is not only a major key player and household name in the German telecommunication industry. As the best African Diaspora Business Professional ADLER 2005 award winner and a “Cultural Ambassador Merit Award 2005” for his outstanding business strategy, Mr. Osuji is using his industry and talent to better the lives of fellow Africans by helping them to establish call shops and provide VoIP services as a co-branded label. He is also creating jobs in Germany by employing Germans and Africans in his firms. His social contributions doesn’t end only in Europe, but extends to Nigeria, where he has contributed to the re-building of 7 schools, which have been named after him as the Cassidy Osuji’s Blocks. The Kama committee is honoured to present Chief Cassidy  Osuji with the Special Kultural Ambassador Media Award 2008 for his extra ordinary Entrepreneurship.

Kultural Ambassador Media Award 2008 For Entrepreneurship

Mr Philipp Stachow is the owner and managing director of Overseas-Forwarding. His company with its wide range of customer services that provide support with import and export authorizations, visas and financing solutions, roll-on/roll-off shipments that bring anything on wheels from the United States and Europe to West Africa has secured a niche market in African. Mr Philipp Stachow  a German with a strong support for Diaspora-African Businesses and Cultural activities including the African Queen in Germany event for some years now. The KAMA committee is proud to present Mr Philipp Stachow with the Kultural Ambassador Media Award  2008 for entrepreneurship.

 
 

Gerald Asamoah
Kultural Ambassador Media Award 2008 – Best Sports Personality

Gerald Asamoah is a Ghanaian-born German professional  footballer. He became the first African-born player to represent Germany when he made history with his debut in 2001 against Slovakial. He has played with the team in the Champions League. Asamoah suffered from a heart condition which almost ended his career. Fortunately, he never gave up hope and he finally got healed and today his game has not been affected by it. His Football Career achievements are a pride to Africa and Africans in the Diaspora. The KAMA committee is honoured to present Gerald Asamoah with the Kultural Ambassador Media Award as the Sport Personality of the year 2008

 
 

Mrs Mary Oviamwonyi
KAMA – Business Personality 2008 Supporting Entertainment & Culture

 Mrs Mary Oviamwonyi is a devoted African  business woman who owns G.M.T, an import- export company in Hamburg. She was among the dignitaries from Edo State in Nigeria who were honoured with awards by the Edo Community in Berlin for her huge contribution in promoting Edo culture and affairs.Mrs Oviamwonyi is a popular figure in most prominent African entertainment and cultural gatherings. She is the President of an African woman’s social club called the “Black Sisters”,  aimed at fostering the progress and well-being of African women in Germany. She is one of the founders of Alafia, an African Festival Company which organizes annual African festivals. Mrs Mary Oviamwonyi is the Matron of the many community in Hamburg and Berlin. She holds a diploma in G.D.T Computer Programming. (Gesellschaft für Datei Technik – Society for Technical Data. In recognition for her activities, the KAMA committee presents Mrs Mary Oviamwonyi with the Kultural Ambassador Media Award for supporting entertainment and culture.
 
 

Prof. Dr. Charles Yankah
Kultural Ambassador Media Award 2008 For Culture & Education

Professor Yankah hails from Ghana. He is specilist in Adult Cardiac Surgery, General Thoracic Surgery, and Peripheral Vascular Surgery. Prof. Yankanh is a pioneer staff member and consultant cardio thoracic and vascular surgeon at the German Heart institute, Berlin, a  member of the European committee on African Union. He is also affiliated to many institutions like the German Heart Institute Berlin, Charite Medical University and University of Cape Coast, Ghana. Profssoer Yankah is the  President of the African cultural institute in  Berlin and the German-Ghanian Economic Association. He was a  Professor and Consultant at the University of Cape Coast, Ghana in 2007 and initiated the African Heart Seminar with Dr. Koen at Christian Barnard Memorial Hospital in Cape Town. Recently, as the president of African cultural institute in Berlin, he organized  with the German Ghanaian Economic Association and in cooperation with Distance Learning center in Africa, GTZ and world bank the first Europe-Africa and inter African Video Teleconference on health and Education involving over 13 African countries to find ways of promoting health education in Africa. For his many achievements in the areas of human science and commitment to the values of health and education for Africa, the KAMA committee is honoured to present  Professor Yankah with the Kultural Ambassador Media Award for  Culture and Education.

 
 
Prof. Dora Nkem Akunyili
Kultural Ambassador Media Award  2008 For Institutional Reforms
Prof. Dora Nkem Akunyili (OFR), the Director General of National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), is an internationally renowned Pharmacist, Pharmacologist, Erudite Scholar, Seasoned Administrator, and a visionary leader. Prof. Akunyili holds a first degree and doctorate degree from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. She was a Post Doctorate Fellow of the University of London and Prof. Akunyili is a Fellow of the West African Post Graduate College of Pharmacists and a member of many learned societies, which include New York Academy of Science, International Narcotics Control Board and United States Pharmacopeia (USP) Expert Committee. She has since 1994 worked in various capacities for Nigerian government at local government, state, zonal and federal levels and the latest before her new position was as the Zonal Secretary of Petroleum Special Trust Fund. Prof. Akunyili was appointed the Chairman of West African Drug Regulatory Authorities Network (WADRAN) in March, 2006, Vice Chairman of the  International Medical Products Anti-Counterfeiting Task Force (IMPACT) on the 15th  Nov. 2006. For her industry and commitment to the values of honesty and transparency, Prof. Akunyili has received over 530 Awards and Recognitions locally and internationally.She was African Heritage Magazine “Woman of the year 2007”.For her industry and commitment to the values of honesty and transparency, the KAMA committee is honoured to present Prof. Akunyili  with the Kultural Ambassador Media Award for  Institutional Reforms.
 
 

Mr. Ibrahim Samak
Kultural Ambassador Media Award  2008 For Entrepreneurship

Mr. Ibrahim Samak´s achievements in the energy sector and philanthropic engagements are remarkable, making him one of the most successful Africans of our time. These has also earned him the African Heritage Magazine “Man of the Year 2007”. He is the Chairman and CEO of the Stuttgart based advanced technology firm, Engcotec. A qualified Egyptian engineer from the Faculty of Engineering, University of Assiut in Egypt,with more than 35 years of experience. His scientific ability was recognized by his native country in the award of the Golden Metal for Outstanding Engineering Achievements by the Egyptian Engineering Syndicate in1986. Mr. Samak has distinguished himself in the Solar energy sector where some of his pioneering work have been patented, earning him worldwide recognition. His Egyptian roots and his professional life made him a commuter between two worlds. The poverty and social gap in Africa between rich and poor has led him to his philanthropic activities, conducted under the auspices of “African Hope”, a charity organisation which he co-founded, extends to African nations where AIDS/HIV and education have become issues of social emergency. Mr. Ibrahim Samak was last year awarded the Federal Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany by the German President, Mr. Horst Koehler, for his activities in research, as well as his business enterprise and humanitarian work. For his activities in research, as well as his business enterprise, the KAMA committee presents Mr Ibrahim Samak with the Kultural Ambassador Media Award for enterpreneurship.
